10. Economic and social affairs

One generation - 800 euros in Italy, 700 euros in Greece and 300 euros or less in other countries of the European Union.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Henri Ford, firmly convinced, let us know that he pays his workers so that they are able to buy his cars. Now, about one century later, this conviction should actually not have changed in the field of economy even if it is probably not the strongest wish of the people anymore to possess a new car. Sure, optimism is necessary. Though, the financial situation of the young generations is getting more and more difficult. How can one become independent, how can one find a job and a flat when even the own family can't provide any financial support? In addition, there is the financial crisis, making everything even more complicated. Within one year, the unemployment rate of the under 25 year olds rose from 9, 4% to 18, 4% in Ireland and from 7, 5% to 21, 9% in Estonia. We can be happy living together with our flatmates, we can go on low cost trips or we can take advantage of the new possibilities but we must not forget the precarity by which especially the weakest among us are affected. The current situation has to come to an end. Demonstrations, bigger then ever before, broke out on our continent. The end of 2008 was marked by a protest wave. Dissatisfaction has - first in Greece, then in Latvia and Bulgaria - become a permanent state of affairs. And if one is aware of the situation in Italy or in France, it becomes quite clear that Europe has begun to sway. The sacrifices that have been made so far by the people concerned can only be accepted if there is the guarantee that the obviously weak economic system will be changed.

Unfortunately, only small progress has been made on this field so far. In such hard times, as we are going through right now, we have to show our solidarity. It is our duty to change the situation - even without euros.
