First radio program in English for Generation112

First radio program in English for Generation112
The team of Generation 112 is travelling to Strasbourg next Thursday (15/04/2010) for its first radio debate in English.

At the occasion of Model European Union 2010, a simulation of EU politics gathering 180 young Europeans, we decided to organize our first live debate in English, discussing with participants from all around the EU about what it means to be a European citizen nowadays and about what is the role of the youth in the EU in the year 2010.

If you would like to participate, please send your questions to: contact@generation112.eu

First radio program in English for Generation112

Participants: Samuil Louzanov representing S&D Malta, Andrei Dimitrache representing EPP Ireland, Xavier Grimault for the Council and Rares Bertzi for Amnesty International.

Debate I: Immigration and Euope - the returns directive

1. Do you think that a young Bulgarian coming to France for his studies can still be considered as an immigrant?
2. Does Europe have to act in the field of immigration or is this rather the responsibility of the national states?
3. What would you say: is the returns directive a “directive of shame” or the “smallest common denominator”/a rather good result of Europe’s actions.
4. Is Europe still an Eldorado/paradise or are the immigrants the first victims of the crisis, now that it has arrived also in Europe?
5. What is, in your opinion, a good future immigration policy?
6. Last question: Do you think, that the Europeans are aware of how lucky they are having the freedom of travel, being able to go wherever they want without any problems and without barriers?

Philipp Obenauer and Constantin Schaefer, president and vice-president of Beta e.V., Inês Nascimento as Director General of MEU 2010 and Xavier Grimault, participants of this year's simulation and active European.

Debate II: Being young and active in Europe

1. You’ve been organising MEU 2010: What is the aim? When did you start? How much time did you invest? How many participants? How many organisers? How many nationalities? It is a success? And what is this success actually?
2. Last European elections: many people did not vote, especially among the young generations. Why is this?
3. How and through which kinds of actions can we continue to be committed to Europe?
4. Does a “European generation” exist?
5. How can this “European generation” get itself heard in Europe/get a voice in Europe? OR How can we create such a “European generation”?
6. Has your initiative (MEU 2010) created a European consciousness among the participants, for example: Do some of you dream of becoming a Member of the European Parliament in some years?
