G112 presents the award for the most humorous sentence expressed in the European political sphere 2010!By Adrian Pantev
Ladies and Gentlemen, Generation 112 proudly presents the award for the most humorous sentence expressed in the European political sphere 2010!
Ok, European politics is not always fun. Anyway… Generation 112 proudly presents the award for the most humorous sentence expressed in the European political sphere 2010! Laughing is also a political argument, laughing at oneself a sign of open-mindedness: for this reason, the team of Generation 112 is going to give out, for the first time in 2010, an award for the “most humorous sentence expressed in the European political sphere”. In order to do so we’ll gather the remarks of our heads of State and Government, Members of the European Commission and all the deputies having something to do with European issues.
We’ve already received the following quotations:
Angela Merkel – Thursday, 16th September, EU summit, the Commission and the French government arguing about the expulsion of Roma people. « Lunch went well … speaking about the quality of the food » Mr. Sarkozy-16th september 2010-, when asked about his quarrel with Barroso during a press conference: "If there's someone who has stayed calm..that's me of course" Jean-Claude Juncker - President of the Euro Group-29th November, after the decision to help Ireland had been taken. "Going to Lybia (in order to participate at the EU-Africa summit) will give me time to rest a bit. I don’t dare to imagine that the debates I’ll probably have with Kadhafi will be as difficult as the debates with the European ministers”. Nigel Farage to Herman Van Rompuy - 24th February - European Parliament: “I don't want to be rude but, really, you have the charisma of a damp rag and the appearance of a low-grade bank clerk» Daniel Cohn-Bendit - 9th February - debate on the vote for the new European Commission: "All the minuses produce a plus, these are the new maths of the Barroso Commission" Daniel Cohn-Bendit - 9th February - talking to Martin Schulz: "I don't know why you get upset, you are not yet President of the European Parliament (...) Shut up!" Not sure yet as the connection to European affairs still has to be discussed ! Simeon Dyankov-March 2010- the Finance minister during a TV (entertainment) show. "Is our Mr. President (Mr. Parvanov) a young billionnaire?". Simeon Dyankov replied : "I don’t think he is young ». Silvio Berlusconi- 30th September 2010 "The left-wing parties don’t stop telling me that I have to go home but by saying this they get me into difficulties: I have 20 houses and I don’t know which one I should choose". Silvio Berlusconi -29th November 2010, making fun of the diplomatic documents published on the website WikiLeaks, where he is described as «incapable, inefficient and party monster». «Unfortunately I’ve not been at really, really wild party yet. But it must be interesting»
Now it’s your time to send us the quotations that you think are the funniest until the 31st of December 2010!
From the 1st until the 10th of January 2011, you, some journalists and European bloggers can vote either directly on our website www.generation112.eu or by sending an e-mail to: franziska.schwelm@generation112.eu The winning quotation will be chosen on Thursday, 13th December 2011! All the best to you, the team of Generation 112
