Make the youth unemployment decrease: first step...By Rémi Praud
The two first week of october, the 2010 European Job Days gave jobseekers a chance to meet employers from all over Europe, and find out about working in other EU countries through seminars and workshops.
This autumn, jobseekers can hook up with employers at over 500 events being held all over the EU. The European job days are an ideal opportunity for school-leavers, graduates and people who already have work experience to find out what jobs are out there in other European countries, in a Europe in crisis which affect in the fist place the youth. To go against the fact that many young people looks for a job back home, these European Job Days are meant to help them find possibilities for branching out abroad. In addition, there are conferences and information sessions organised in cooperation with EURES, the European network of public employment services. Generation 112 support this kind of events, even though their efficiency remains to be demonstrated. A European youth employment policy is a must do, to go further than the political statement, such as Youth on the Move, structuring but not being enough. Young people need less dark perspectives as it seems to be promised to them.
